Daylily Growers of Dallas

later renamed Daylily Growers of Dallas

This club also had day (Big Dee Unit) and night (Fluorescent Unit) groups for many years.

The club has been very active in American Hemerocallis Society and Region 6 activities thru the years, having held AHS National Conventions twice (1965 and 1977) and AHS Region 6 Meetings seven times (1970, 1975, 1979, 1982, 1989, 1998, and 2005). Daylily Growers of Dallas has produced two AHS Presidents: Bertie Ferris (1969) and Kay Day (2000-2001).

Daylily Growers of Dallas (DGD) hosted a celebration of its 50th Anniversary on September 20, 2008. Everyone attending the celebration received a bound copy of the DGD 50-Year History Booklet. In honor of the occasion, all DGD members present were given a new daylily named Hemerocallis 'Dallas Legacy' (Dan Hansen, 2008). DGD commissioned Dan to name and register this new daylily cultivar in honor of its history.
