The Big Country Daylily Society was formally organized in the home of Mrs. Clyde Daniel, Abilene, the evening of June 19, 1967 with a membership of 15. The following officers were elected: Mrs. Clyde Daniel, President; Mrs. Opal Maxwell, Vice-President; Mrs. Fred Newman, Secretary-Treasurer; and Mrs. Shy Osborn, Program Chair. Miss Velma Wooldridge acted as Publicity Chair and Mrs. Gaines Short, assisted by Mrs. C. W. Presswood, were Co-Chairs the Pilgrimage Committee.
